Tips for Beginner Walkers

Start small: Many of these routes take 30–90 minutes — perfect if you’re building up your walking habit.

Check path surfaces: Some are paved or firm ground, others are natural trails — suitable footwear helps, most of these walks, trainers are fine, some may be better in boots!

Use local transport: Many spots are accessible by bus or train if you’re travelling without a car, it can also add to the adventure as you get to enjoy the scenery on the way.

Bring water & snacks: Even easy walks feel extra rewarding with a break mid-route!
